  • Paw-fect Weddings

It’s becoming increasingly popular between couples to invite their fur babies to the wedding. With our family pets becoming more involved in our day to day lives for some couples saying ‘I do’ without their beloved pets by their side wouldn’t be the same.

Involving your pet in your ceremony could be the sweetest and most adorable thing imaginable. The most fashionable way to include your furry friends on your special day is giving them the important job as the ring bearer or flower girl.

Whilst having man’s best friend at your wedding could make for the cutest pictures it also could result in disaster if not properly thought out.

Before even thinking about including your pet firstly you need to consider their feelings and how they would react in such an event. Ask yourself these questions:

    1. How friendly (really) is my pet

Think about how your pet would react whilst you are not around. Would they get scared or irritated? The last thing you need is your pet nipping your guests.

    2. Is my pet obedient?

How well trained is your pet? Will they take commands from other people? You need to be sure that if by chance your pet gets loose they will obey and return to their handler. Also do you think they will be able to walk down the aisle calmly by themselves or perhaps get one of your bridal party attendees to walk them down by lead.

    3. How will my pet react in a crowded situation?

During the recessional, all your guests want to get up and congratulate you and your partner, you w

ill need to make sure your pet is comfortable with lots of people and won’t freak out.

I would suggest doing a little rehearsal prior to the wedding to see how your pet will react with all the points above taken into consideration.  If you truly believe your pet would have a ‘ball’ (yeah I said it) at your wedding then the next step is to seek approval from your venue to make sure that pets are allowed onsite and if so what rules you need to abide by.

Now that you have confirmed that your pet is allowed on the premises you will need to delegate a guest to take care of your pet. Their role of pet sitter includes picking your pet up, feed and water them, giving them treats to keep obedience and to pick up any presents they might drop. Once the ceremony and photographs have been taken your pet should then be taken home. It’s a big day for them and you don’t want your guests feeding them anything they shouldn’t eat.

If you don’t want to burden one of your guests with looking after your pet you can now hire a Pet Attendant to do all of the looking after, pickups and drop offs. Amazing right?!

Now all that’s left to do is to have a purrrr-fect wedding. Congrats and sparkle with kindness.

    Tips on attire:

    • Please remember when dressing your pet to make sure what they are wearing is not constricting or distracting for them. You want to make sure they are comfortable and not irritated. We suggest a floral collar or bow tie which can be situated behind the head or under the chin.
    • Please note clothing will often result in overheating

  • Wedding Filter – How to create your own snapchat wedding filter

Ever wanted to create your own snapchat wedding filter? Why not create a beautiful filter for your guests to enjoy at your wedding. Follow these six easy steps to create an element of fun on your special day. Happy snapping 🙂

    Step 1

Visit geofilters.snapchat.com on your computer (Note it only worked for me on my apple devices). Log in to your account, and then click Design located under the Create Online icon. You can also Use Your Own design if you decide to do so however snapchat have some lovely designs to choose from.

    wedding filterStep 2

    Click on the Wedding icon.

    wedding filterStep 3

Choose the design you like and change the colour/text to suit your style. Then like Next.

    wedding filterStep 4

Choose the date of your wedding and select the times you would like your filter to run for. You can do this by clicking on the calendar dates or just clicking the dates beside the times. I would suggest running your filter for 24 hours so that you can get your monies worth. Then click Next.

    wedding filterStep 5

Click 4 points around the area that you would like your filter to show up. You can click and drag the points into place. (Note the bigger the green area the more expensive the filter will be. I would just outline the area of your wedding venue to save yourself some money.

    wedding filterStep 6

Make your payment and submit your filter for review. And you’re done!

    BONUS TIP

Don’t forget to tell people about your fun wedding filter. Create a beautiful chalk board sign to display at both your ceremony and reception. I would also get the MC or a speaker to also make an announcement that you have a special wedding filter created just for your day. Get your guests excited about it!

  • Choosing a Photographer

Choosing a photographer and / or a videographer for your wedding is a decision that requires much consideration.

    So where do you start?

It’s not as easy as googling somebody that looks like they take great pictures and saying yep your the one see you at my wedding. Haha if only.

Your wedding day pictures will be cherished for the rest of your days by yourself and your family. So choosing the right photographer to capture your most precious moments couldn’t be more important.

In this article I’ve put in all the tips and tricks of the trade to make sure you choose the absolutely 110% right photographer for the job that suits your needs.

    #1 – Get good recommendations

The best way to know if someone is actually amazing at their job in any profession is by word of mouth or experience. Go to anybody that you know that has gotten married in the past 2-3 years and ask them!

How was their work? Did they show up on time? How was their mannerisms and did they connect with you as the married couple. Raving customers are your best bet!

If you don’t know anyone that’s been married recently go to your venue and ask if they have any trusted photographers that they use. At least that can be your starting point.

    #2 – DO. YOUR. RESEARCH

Okay I get it your excited and you want to get this planning business over asap! Well to be honestly if you put the work in you’ll get the results you want. If you half ass it you’re probably going to end up with some troubleshooting. And we don’t want that!

A photographers website can be a sign to whether they share the same eye for detail as what you and your partner do. It can also give you clues to what they’re like also.

Take note as well to the details of their website: is it easy to navigate around, is it well presented, are the chosen theme colours engaging? Little things like this can determine whether they have put effort and pride into their business.

    #3 – Interview

Always, always, always setup an interview before booking a photographer. This is where you can ask every single question on your mind as well as to see if they contact well with you and your partner. If you dislike your photographer on the day it’s most likely going to be hard to give an honestly heart warming smile and you’ll see it in your pictures a mile away.

First impressions are everything so if you don’t like them … find someone else. Too easy 😉

    #4 – Be prepared & Ask questions

Be that nerdy geek with your notebook full of questions before you go and meet them for the first time. (Trust me, I was) haha

If they are good at selling themselves (which they should be) it will be a lot harder for you to think of questions on the spot if you’ve heard all the right things from them.

Here are some example questions that you can use.

    • if you’ve chosen a night time setting or an usual setting ask the photographer to show you similar work that they have done.
    • Ask about packages and don’t be afraid to negotiate on price.
    • Will your photographer have an assistant on the day?
    • Will the photographer keep the copyright?
    • How will you receive your photographs (on disc, USB, emailed)?
    • When will you receive them?
    • How much editing/retouching will they do to the photographs
    • Are all the pictures included in the packaged price?

Any other issues/concerns/questions you may have right them down and ask. Can’t hurt right! 🙂

  • Choosing your Wedding Venue

Choosing the right venue is probably the biggest decision of your wedding. So naturally you’d want to take your time and consider all the options.

In this article will highlight all of the options you will need to take into consideration when choosing your venue.

    #1 Budget:

So you’ve been pinteresting and you’ve found the most fancy swanky places around … however, can you afford it? We can all dream however unfortunately not everyone can afford to get married in a castle made of gold! 😉

Keep in mind though most if not all places will have a significantly cheaper rate for unpopular dates and days during the week. Also don’t be afraid to ask for a discount … they may not be able to change the rate of pricing but may be able to throw in some extras for free!!!

    #2 Timing

Generally the longer the engagement, the more venue options you will be entitled to. Some venues are booked 2 years in advanced! Crazy I know. If you are really hung up on a particular date you may have to wait a little longer for your big day. However, should you be a little bit more relaxed in regards to your date you will have endless possibilities.

Another point to ask yourself is – consider the time of day you would like to get married. Do you want an all day event or perhaps just an evening event? Note: The longer the event the more refreshments (drinks, canapes, etc) you will need to supply, so also consider this when budgeting.

    #3 Numbers

It is extremely important to know your numbers before enquiring about a particular venue. You should know the exact numbers or around abouts to the questions below before heading out to a venue also considering your guests needs.

    1. How many guests will you be inviting?
    2. Will the same number be at the ceremony and reception?
    3. Will guests need to travel between locations or will you have both ceremony and reception at the same location?
    4. Is there a minimum guest requirement?
    5. Will guests need to stay overnight?
    6. Is it accessible to guests with mobility issues?

All of these 3 factors need to be considered when picking the perfect location. Below is a list of some general tips and questions to ask your venue.

    • Is there great views or places to take photos? If not perhaps ask if there is a place nearby?
    • Is there enough parking for guests?
    • Do they have rules about candles or confetti?
    • Can your guests stay at the location? Would they provide a discounted rate?
    • How do they calculate the overal price (per head, room hire, minimum spend)?
    • Can you setup a day in advanced? (They is particular handy for your suppliers and wedding planner)
    • What are the bar options? Can you supply your own drinks?
    • Does the venue supply tableware (tables, chairs, cutlery, plates, etc)?
    • Can you choose your own suppliers? (Unfortunately some venues have a strict policy about using ‘outsider’ suppliers)

    MOST IMPORTANT TIP OF ALL!!!

    • GET EVERYTHING CONFIRMED IN WRITING!!! If you have a wedding planner they will do this for you but should you do this yourself please please please get it all in writing not just so you can prove on certain agreements but also so that everyone is on the same page and if something is not correct it can be corrected then and there instead of awkwardly on the day of the wedding.

Should you follow and think about all the above tips and tricks you will be well on your way to creating a truely wonderful day.

  • Picking the Perfect Wedding Date

Picking the perfect wedding date. Congratulations you are engaged!!! Hooray!!! Now that you have announced your engagement to you family and friends the questions will start coming, so are you ready?

Can I see your ring? How did he/she propose? Blah blah blah. When’s the wedding date???

    Ooppp there it is 😉

Now calm down, don’t just blindly point your finger at a calendar and say “there, done!”. Oh you crazy! Consider the 5 listed points below to make sure you pick the perfect date for your special day. Read these and you should avoid having an ‘awwww crap’ moment.

    #1 Symbolism

Perhaps you might like to get married on the day you met or perhaps something cute like your parents or grandparents anniversary. Which ever you choose just consider if/or what that paricular day means to you.

    #2 Season

First thing you might be thinking of is, I want to stay away from the ‘rainy season’, so trust me when I say that it can rain on any old day. Therefore, for you to dismiss a season just because it might rain would be silly. Also, a rainy wedding would create amazing photographs so don’t stress. Another thing to think about is temperature. Do you and your partner run hot? Perhaps a Summer wedding is out of the question for you since you don’t want to be swimming in a pool of sweat before you even make it down the aisle, that’s so not hot haha. Think about your groomsmen wearing suits or the bridesmaids wearing their dresses, if you choose a cold season make sure your bridesmaids have matching jackets or something for them to keep warm.

    Summer: 19%     Autumn: 26%     Winter: 18%     Spring: 37%.

According to http://www.easyweddings.com.au these are the percentages of marriages for each season.

    #3 Price

Depending on your budget will also affect which day you will get married on. Saturdays obviously being the most popular day in the year. Should you choose a week day you will have unlimited venues and suppliers to help you create your day all that special. Should you choose a Saturday you will definitley need to book a year in advanced. Popular Months are April, September, October and November. Off months are February, June and December. So depending on how much of a rush you are to get married will depend on the month.

    #4 Holidays

You will need to take into consideration what days holidays fall on. Should you want an Easter wedding for example best to ask friends and family if they plan to go away etc. Also consider school holidays as many families go away. If you choose a date during the school holidays be prepared for limited accommodations and packed beaches etc. Perhaps not the best time for a beach wedding with screaming kids running around in the background … little mood killers LOL.

#5 Do Not Pass Go Days

Named rightfully so as you will not be collecting $200 on these dates. Have a really good google search for events in your area such as sporting, music concerts, Australia Day etc, such days as these prove to be hazardous for a wedding in the same area. Therefore, should your wedding day be on any of those weekends if maybe hard for your guests to find accommodation furthermore, think of the traffic. Imagine grid lock traffic in a limosine. Nightmare, unless you have plenty of wine haha. Best to stay clear of those big events. Plus you don’t want all the men in your life crying over the fact that they missed the grand final.

Following my 5 rules you’ll be well on your way to picking the bestest date for your perfect day!!!
